Support These Suppliers

June Hyjek attended Book Selling University last weekend. She suggested I send everyone a step-by-step system for making the most of your time there. I’ve attended events like this in the past, and after returning to work I usually lost the momentum. I thought I would get to my new ideas as soon as I put out a few fires. Eventually I got right back into my old routine. Others may feel overwhelmed and not know where to begin. Now that you have had a week to attend to old business, it’s time to take care of new business. Here are a five steps you can take to maximize your University experience:

1. Write a list of the benefits buyers will get from your content

2. Define your primary target buyers. Who else could benefit from your content?

3. Organize people in groups with similar needs and buying habits (retail and non-retail). If retail, make sure your metadata is current

4. Go through your notes and prioritize your ideas in the order in which you will implement them

5. Take the first item on your list and do it.
