Support These Suppliers

I've been in negotiations with a few specialty businesses that are interested in carrying my books. At least one is asking for Net 30 as a payment schedule on case orders. Up until now, I've requested payment upon receipt of invoice. As a very tiny publisher (4 titles on sale now, 6 in the works), putting up the cash for a few cases of books from LS is a hunk of change out of my pocket.

My question is, are people offering Net 30, Payment on Invoice, or some other more esoteric form of collecting money?

I think net 30 is perfectly reasonable. Amazon works on consignment, so you don't get paid until the books sell, which can be more than 30 days. I also consign books to other select sellers (non-bookstore).

I'm working with a company (my non-publishing life) in construction contracting. If they got all their invoices paid in 30 days they wouldn't know what to do with themselves.

Think of your customers. They're probably small with cash flow struggles as well.
