Bill -
I know the Jenkins group a bit from their IPPY awards, which are well known and respected, but I've not had a client use their other services. It looks like these are pretty "boiler plate" and not really customized for a particular book.
Let me throw out another idea for you. About Books offers customized marketing and media plans as well as full customized media kits for independent publishers. Each piece is developed and designed with your specific needs in mind.
A good marketing/media plan has to start with the author's goals, market, time and investment in mind. There are lots of ways to "flush" good money in this business and it will surely happen if you haven't first developed a good road map of where you are trying to go with your book and your platform. Remember the old saying, if you don't know where you are going any road will get you there.
Take a look at the ABI marketing services and then call Debi Flora to do a needs assessment and make a recommendation of a package that will fit your needs.

Hi Bill - I'm from Jenkins Group -- I edit the IndependentPublisher.com website and newsletter and I'm director of our book awards programs. IP.com is a great site for reading informative articles -- and for telling your own story.
We have a Highlighted Titles section to showcase newly published titles, and our Share Your Story encourages you to tell us about your publishing journey and maybe get published on our site. Our Independent Publisher Book Awards is the biggest and most comprehensive awards contest in publishing, with 69 national categories, and regional contest, and special awards for Outstanding Books of the Year. The book awards have been so successful and given so many authors and publishers an affordable, effective promotional tool, that we've added four other contests, for business books, lifestyle/homestyle books, children's books, and ebooks.
Get the whole scoop at www.IndependentPublisher.com, and I welcome you to get in touch about any questions.
Hi, Bill. Nice to see your post. Jenkins Group offers a number of marketing and promotion opportunities for small and independent publishers. Our goal is to help you to compete and make a success of your publishing project.
REVIEW DIRECT is a monthly e-newsletter sent to librarians and independent bookstores. Within the newsletter is a link to a PDF that showcases all of the participating titles for the month. Each title listing features a front cover image, a brief description and basic book details, along with your contacts information so that interested parties may connect with you directly. This has been a very successful marketing vehicle for many publishers, and librarians especially have indicated that they enjoy being introduced to important work that is coming from areas outside of the large, royalty publishing houses.
THE CRITIC'S BOOKSHELF is a monthly e-catalog of books available for review. The PDF looks similar to the Review Direct PDF with cover images and descriptions, etc. Reviewers have been very receptive and several publishers have been very successful, obtaining reviews and endorsements from reviewers at magazines, newspapers, in radio, television, and also via online bloggers, top Amazon.com reviewers, etc.
These programs are designed to be efficient and affordable - much less costly than sending 20, 30, or 100 galley or book copies in a scatter-shot, cross-your-fingers, direct mail blast.
I'd be happy to send additional information your way. Please just contact me at your convenience.
Kind regards,
Kim Hornyak
