James Brooks, the campaign manager for Attorney General hopeful J.D. Harrison finds himself reluctantly falling for Ashley Harrison, sister to the candidate. As the two become more attracted to each other, their past love interest emerges and threaten to destroy what appears to be a sex-driven relationship. James has hidden his family ties from Ashley and his friends for reasons of his own. Making her a permanent part of his life means, he will have to face the family he was exiled form and certain demons that hardened his heart.
Ashley finds herself in love with a man that she believes is out of her league. She finds herself constantly trying to peel away the shield he has erected around his heart. Unfortunately, an ex-lover takes her attention away occasionally with his obsession with her.
